First meeting at Two Oceans Aquarium
The turtle icon has been part of the Plantastic journey from the beginning. In August 2017 we met with Maryka Musson (Curator of the Two Oceans Aquarium) and Talitha Noble (Two Oceans Aquarium Conservation Coordinator) to explore ways to collaborate. We were thrilled to meet Bob and Sandy, two green sea turtles in rehabilitation at the Two Oceans Aquarium. The connection was instant and we lost our hearts to these gentle ancient souls of the sea. Since then we have donated over R 20,000 to the Two Oceans Aquarium and have witnessed the arrival, rehabilitation and ultimately the release of many turtles through the rescue, rehabilitate and release programme.

Meet turtle Hatchling #127
His wonky appearance and fighting spirit has made him particularly beloved by Inge and myself.
Hatchling 127 was found in Struisbaai and given to a man at the Tip-of-Africa shop on April 29th, where he was left it in a box overnight. At 10am the next morning one of the employees found the hatchling and called the Two Oceans Aquarium (TOA). The hatchling was driven through to Cape Town, by 2 people from Cape Gate, arriving late afternoon of April 30th. On arrival, with a massive injury to his left front flipper, the top of his beak missing and not moving at all, he was thought to be dead.
- Weight: 42 g
- Length: 5.9 cm
He has responded really well to the Two Oceans Aquarium’s care and proved itself to be an incredible little fighter! On May 7 it pood out small amounts of plastic.
- Weight: 127 g (appr. 200% increase)
- Length: 12.2 cm (appr. 100% increase)

For every sold Plantangle we donate R60 towards this little guy's rehabilitation. At an average cost of R27/ day, each sold Plantangle sponsors days of turtle rehab.

Meet turtle Hatchling #33
Happy 2nd Birthday Plantastic!
In celebration of Pantastic’s 2nd birthday, we adopted a little one-eyed loggerhead turtle called Jack Sparrow. This little turtle had eye surgery at the Two Oceans Aquarium and spent 170 days in turtle rehab. Despite his missing eye, he proved to be a real little fighter and was released together with Yoshi, the 180 kg loggerhead turtle, along with 24 other little hatchlings in December 2017.
- Rescued from Milnerton on 15 June 2017
- Weighed 46 g on rescue
- Current weight: 538 g
- Number of days at the Aquarium: 170
